Chinese Medicine
Based on the belief that vital energy (Qi) flows through our body and the world around us. When the flow of Qi is disrupted or disturbed it can cause pain or dis-ease. Chinese Medicine focuses on restoring health by effectively stimulating the body’s self-healing ability while looking at the whole being and focusing on getting to the root of the problem rather than just treating the symptoms. Stimulation of certain acupuncture points for example has been shown to affect areas of the brain that are known to reduce sensitivity to pain and stress, as well as increase the local blood flow.
Because every person is unique, the diagnosis and treatments are individually tailored, taking into account not only the symptoms, pulse and tongue picture as observed by the practitioner but also their dietary and lifestyle habits, social circumstances, the environment they live in, their emotional attitudes and many other relevant aspects. Acupuncture is often used to treat pain conditions or simply to help our bodies relax. It can be beneficial for digestive and emotional issues as well as support a woman during the time of pre-conception, pregnancy and menopause.

Acupuncture
Through the insertion of very thin sterile needles into specific points on the body, acupuncture can alleviate pain and increase a sense of relaxation, which most people find difficult to maintain in our current way of life. It can be used safely alongside conventional medicine and it also works well as preventative treatment.
Shonishin
Specialised form of treatment for infants and children which can be done without using needles. It involves techniques like stroking, rubbing, tapping and pressing specific areas and points to harmonize the child's Qi and to strengthen their constitution.
Cupping
Creating local suction on the skin with the application of cups, which can be combined with massage. The treatment increases blood flow, loosens the fascia or connective tissue, and is thought to stimulate healing. Similar to the way a deep tissue massage can be used to break up scar tissue and reduce pain. The cups are often placed on the back, neck, shoulders or the site of pain.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion or Moxa refers to the use of the herb Artemisia Vulgaris (Mugwort) on certain areas of the body in order to bring warmth and healing to a painful area. It can potentiate the effect of acupuncture.
Essential Oils
Essential oils are used for a very wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. When applicable they can benefit and intensify your acupuncture experience either through being diffused or safely applied topically.

About Me

I have always been interested in the philosophy and approach of Eastern cultures to the human mind and body. After working in finance for five years, two of which in Jersey, I decided to change my career and study Chinese Medicine at Chiway Academy for Acupuncture and TCM back in my home country Switzerland.
Using a very integrated approach to treat patients, my aim is always for acupuncture to support the body in restoring balance and promoting its ability to self-heal naturally. I am very passionate about my work and enjoy learning and further deepening my knowledge through attending courses, discussions with colleagues or reading books and articles.
